Honestly I have spent a lot of time thinking about whether I like Sandor more in the books or the tv show and I still don’t have a definitive answer. At the moment my answer is leaning towards Sandor in the books despite personally being someone who connects to television a lot more than I do books (except for my favorite novels). But I have never been able to shake the feeling while watching the show that if Sandor was shown just a little bit more or a specific scene from the book was shown as it was originally written (aka not having other characters say Sandor’s lines) he would become so much more fleshed out. Although I do realize the cast is large and there are characters that play even larger roles than Sandor that need to take up screen time I just feel like not all of his messed up nature is shown as it could be.
And of course I love the way the books capture the grittier side of Sandor. I’ve said before that I love the dark parts of him and that’s definitely what first caught my eye about him when reading the books.
This is an ongoing thought process for me because I’m constantly rethinking scenes I wish I saw in the show or scenes that I was completely happy with so excuse any not fully formed arguments.
So everyone which do you prefer: Sandor in the book or Sandor in the show??
Today I imagined what it would be like if Sandor had stayed in King’s Landing after the Blackwater. If he had been there for Sansa’s wedding. How he would have been forced to stand there and watch the entire ceremony. He’d feel pride when Sansa refused to kneel, but he’d still get drunk that night. Drunker then he ever had before and he’d leave before the bedding because he wouldn’t be able to handle knowing what was happening up in that bedroom. Instead he’d drink so much that he would forget what had just happened, but only for the night because the next day he’d be forced to see her again and know that she would never be his.
Indeed it is. I know this is you, Tania.

Feeling really sad that Game of Thrones is on hiatus at the moment.
“I could keep you safe,” he rasped. “They’re all afraid of me. No one would hurt you again, or I’d kill them.” He yanked her closer, and for a moment she thought he meant to kiss her. He was too strong to fight. She closed her eyes, wanting it to be over, but nothing happened. “Still can’t bear to look, can you?” she heard him say. He gave her arm a hard wrench, pulling her around and shoving her down onto the bed. “I’ll have that song. Florian and Jonquil, you said.” His dagger was out, poised at her throat. “Sing, little bird. Sing for your little life.”

Oh how I wish there was more of Sandor in the first season of the show.
